I am a creative, personable, intelligent person with 37 years of experience in the work-force doing just about everything under the sun. Now I am seeking to apply that experience and my skills to a job that will offer me the opportunity to grow and develop, one that will provide adequate compensation, and most of all, personal satisfaction that I am doing something significant to improve the world we live in.
I moved from Maine in 1990 and I started working for AT&T in Providence, Rhode Island. They taught me the fundamentals of Telephone Customer Service. I then moved to Boston and mastered my customer service skills working for a large national bank that kept getting bought out and changing names. During this period I was promoted to the Business Customer Service line that was set up specifically for commercial accounts.
In 1999, I relocated back to Maine and opened a second branch of my family’s video rental store. It was a fairly small and simple operation with one employee besides myself. Eventually, the video rental business faded out and I then found work at a company that produces the metal rings that are used to make Christmas wreaths (a very lucrative business for the region). Part of the business included mail-order, seasonal, retail wreath sales. I managed a small group of temporary workers responsible for taking orders and resolving complaints. During the rest of the year, I would produce marketing materials for trade publication and media. Also, I would represent the company at trade shows at several locations in the Northeast.
Due to several major life changes, I left the area and that job and moved to the Bangor region. Since then I have tried many different career choices from working at a hospital to driving a taxi. I’m afraid nothing has been a comfortable fit and so I am now working as a budtender and waiting for the next opportunity.
